      Aboriginal Weaving Workshop: Basket Making

Join Sydney based D'harawal Saltwater Knowledge Keeper and artist, Shannon Foster, and learn how to weave a basket using local grasses and understand more about the social, cultural and ecological information embedded in Aboriginal weaving techniques that have been passed down for hundreds of generations. These unique workshops provide participants an opportunity to also learn how to sustainably collect local grasses, such as lomandra, local grass ecological knowledge and how to process the grass effectively for weaving. These workshops are open to beginners, intermediate and master weavers. We will be having a 30 minute break for lunch. Bring your own lunch, or purchase from No. 1 William on level 4. Ticket includes general admission to the Museum. This workshop is recommended for adults, youth 14+ can also attend
