      Aboriginal games and dance workshop for kids

      Join Koori Kinnections at the library for a fun workshop learning  Aboriginal Games and Dance in recognition of the importance of reconciliation week. Learn traditional dance movements and how to perform dances representing local animals and play games were traditional played to improve hunting skills and hand-eye coordination. For example, Tarnembai a hunting game is played with balls (throw balls to hit a target). Traditionally spears would have been used. And Kolap originating from the Torres Strait Islands and involves children aiming an object into a square. We'll use banskia cones to throw, but different plants would be used in the Torres Strait Islands. All welcome. Families and children 5-12 years.
