Maker Nights: Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing

Be a part of our Maker Nights: a new regular meet up series in the library. Over 3 sessions, upsize your skill set and learn cutting-edge technologies as you work with a group to design and 3D print a small object. See your customised zipper pull, keychain or mini succulent pot come to life, from concept to creation. Master the basics of 3D design using free Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and TinkerCAD, as well as the fundamentals of preparing files for 3D printing. Then sit back and watch your design emerge on our 3D printer, which is yours to take home. In this supportive space, you can learn at your own pace, investigate your interests and get confident using technology as you chat about your projects with other 3D printing fans. Equipment and materials are provided, and you can also bring your laptop loaded up with TinkerCAD so you can continue tinkering with your designs at home.   3D Printing Studios The team at 3D Printing Studios are experts at turning ideas and designs into physical things in as little as a few hours. Their Sydney studio is equipped with the latest 3D printers, scanners and software and also runs introductory workshops in basic CAD (Computer Aided Design) and 3D scanning and printing. They also have studios in Melbourne, Singapore and Malaysia.   This workshop is suitable for anyone over 16 years old and no prior experience is required. There’s a maximum of 12 people, so bookings are recommended. Please note that participants need to book in and attend all 3 sessions as new skills are taught each week.
